不過總統府發言人黃重諺受訪時證實，陳菊 9 日上午前往林口拜會呂秀蓮，過程中兩人互動氣氛融洽，90 分鐘的會見，陳菊與呂秀蓮多數時間敘談黨外時期舊事，期間對近期國際情勢、年底地方大選，呂秀蓮也表達她的關注。兩人會談後，陳菊並與呂秀蓮共進午餐。
